The Vocal Arts Studio
Lessons, classes and workshops of the Rebecca Jones School of Vocal Arts are held in The Studio, a beautiful room, 20 by 12 attached to my home in Central San Rafael.
The Studio sits underneath towering redwoods surrounded by greenery and wildlife. The acoustics are lively due to hardwood floors and a high ceiling. The walls hold a small collection of art and the ambience is clean and peaceful. There is room to hold small recitals, seating about 25 people.
There is stereo equipment and an extensive collection of CDs, tapes and vinyl. There are microphones and recording equipment, a piano, a keyboard and a MIDI system. The MIDI computer has several music programs for studying music theory, composition, transcription and for writing music.
The Studio has a rich and varied music library with a collection containing sheet music, fake books, show scores, choral selections, opera scores and art songs in languages such as German, French, Spanish and Italian. There are dictionaries for translating in all these languages. There are scripts of shows and plays and lots of biographical collections of singers, composers and actors.
